LunarMap offers an extensive collection of lunar maps, allowing users to scroll, zoom, and search through high-resolution maps provided by the US Geological Survey and NASA. This application is well-suited for individuals interested in exploring Earth's moon, making it an excellent resource for amateur astronomers observing through telescopes.

The Lite version of LunarMap features watermarked zoom levels above 8X and lacks certain functionalities such as the display of the terminator (the shadow line) and detailed satellite features (for instance, it includes Plato but not Plato B).

Key Features of LunarMap include:

 <li>Diverse views of both the nearside and farside of the moon</li>
 <li>A detailed US Geological Survey relief map with a resolution of 5120x5120</li>
 <li>A rich photographic map created from data collected by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter's Wide Angle Camera (nearside resolution 20480x20480)</li>
 <li>Color-coded topological maps sourced from both USGS and NASA</li>
 <li>A real-time terminator (shadow) line</li>
 <li>Searchable labels for over 1900 lunar features, including craters, maria, mountains, valleys, and Apollo landing sites, based on International Astronomical Union data; selecting a feature provides further information or links to Wikipedia</li>
 <li>The ability to rotate or flip the map to align with a telescope’s eyepiece view or cater to users in the southern hemisphere</li>
 <li>Zoom controls accessible via multitouch gestures (on capable devices), on-screen buttons, or volume keys</li>
 <li>Customization options for colors, displayed labels, and other aspects</li>
 <li>An option to lock screen rotation or adjust sensitivity to minimize accidental changes during observations</li>
 <li>2D mapping that projects nearside features while revealing a slight portion of the farside due to lunar libration</li>
</ul>

Please note that in order to optimize download times for the app, certain maps beyond the USGS relief nearside map require an additional free in-app download. This necessitates Internet access permissions.
